Bharadvajasana

Bharadvaja spent 3 of his entire lifetime as a devout scholar of Vedas. He withdrew from his community to study day and night and became known as a secluded sage devoted to learning.

Near the end of Bharadvaja’s third life, Shiva, the Lord of destruction paid him a visit, asking him how is he doing with his lives. Bharadvaja was excited and said he doing great as he has been devoted to Vedas for 3 entire lifetimes.

Shiva slowly shook his head, reached out the window and scooped up 3 piles of dirt one after the other, which he placed in front of his student, saying, that these mounds of dirt illustrate the knowledge Bharadvaja accumulated during his 3 lifetimes.

Shiva then motioned to the Himalayas beyond the window, “Do you see those mountains?  That represents the information contained in the Vedas.  It would take thousands of lifetimes to master all that is contained within them.  You certainly have gained more knowledge than anyone else, but you have chosen to live alone, to share your knowledge with no one, and have yet to experience and give life to the true meaning of the Vedas.

Bharadvaja’s story means to me that through sharing we become alive. We share our talents, qualities, and experiences, building mountains together, supporting each other to building the biggest mountain we can build, ourselves. All that being considerate and building with positive impact in the lives of the others.

Our life should be our message that we share with the others, recognizing that the new generations are the legacy of our life message.
